Beer Review: Great Divide 18th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA

Long names seem to be getting more common… and leading to better beer!

Brewery: Great Divide
Beer: 18th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA
Style: Imperial IPA
Alcohol by volume: 10%

Pours a very pretty darker brown color mixed in with hints of amber and minimal amounts of head.

Smells a bit of alcohol as well as some malt sweetness.

The taste repeats this malt actions as well as some of the oak flavoring. The alcohol doesn’t taste as present as the smell led me to believe it would. There is some lingering sweetness and you can kinda feel the alcohol strength there a bit.

Medium body mouth feel, nothing much to report here.

Overall this is a rocking beer! Smooth, delicious, and strong. I grabbed this at JJ’s (Jungle Jim’s) a month or so ago and would strongly recommend picking it up if you see it anywhere. If I have a chance I plan to pick up another bottle. Easy 4.5/5 rating.
