Last night Rivertown Brewing tapped this year’s first keg of their much-loved Winter Ale. Today I headed down to the, crazily packed, tap-room for a pint of this. I also scored a growler of Roebling and 2 bottles of Ville De Rivere Geuze so look forward to those reviews as well.
Brewery: Rivertown Brewing Company
Beer: Winter Ale
Style: Winter Warmer
Alcohol by Volume: 8.1%
IBU: 30
Pours a deep amber brown that is super cloudy. No head present but it’s a plastic cup so c’est la vie.
Pleasant aroma of cinnamon and malty molasses.
Great taste packing more cinnamon and molasses. There is also some brown sugar and apple flavors going on in here, makes it a lot like an apple pie.
Medium body with slight carbonation and smooth overall feel.
I like this beer, not love but like. I say that because it’s a great tasty beer but a little overly tasty to have more than one or two of in a night. That is two say it wears down and overwhelms your taste buds. Regardless, if you haven’t had it yet you should make it a point to check it out. Though wait till it’s a bit colder out, not 70 degrees…
