Brew Minds Live With the Cincy Brew Bus

Last night Jesse and Tom sat down with Cincy Brew Bus owner Mike Stokes to learn about the Brew Bus. We also got into a conversation about how far is too far to be a “Cincinnati Brewery” as well as a brief debate on dogs in breweries.

Blank Slate's Scott LaFollette Hired by Fifty West!

Blank Slate closed just over three weeks ago. Here is his statement on the closing and many fond remembrances. Many people have wondered about where the owner and head brewer Scott LaFollette would end up. I am happy to report he has been hired by Fifty West to become the production manager! This is great news for Scott, Fifty West, and Cincinnati beer drinkers!

Live at Swine City Brewing!

Jesse and I headed out to Fairfield to meet and talk to the folks from Swine City Brewing. We talked to owner Dan Ebben and his crew about opening a brewery and what to expect from Swine City when they open in the next month or two.

Statement from Blank Slate's Scott LaFollette on Closing. Plus our thoughts and where to still find their beer!

Monday morning we noticed something was odd at Blank Slate. By Monday afternoon we knew that they had closed. Since then there has been much speculation and many varying assumptions about why they closed. But there have been no facts until now.

Talking Travel Beer with Frank Seta from the Lucky Turtle

Jesse and Tom invited Frank Seta, owner and bar tender at the Lucky Turtle, over for a conversation about traveling and beer. We started off with what local Cincinnati beer we’d bring with us on a trip, either to drink by ourselves or share with friends we met along the way. From there the conversation ranged into how to travel with beer, either driving or flying and where to travel with or for beer. We wrapped things up with a discussion on beer destinations cities and if Cincinnati is one, or what it’d take for us to become one.

We also had some technical difficulties while filming, so please forgive the slides at the beginning, the audio is great throughout and the video picks up around the 11-minute mark. We promise to have these issues sorted out before next time.

Interview with Fifty West on Punch Out: Round 2 Plus More Cans and Bottles!!

Jesse and I sat down with Fifty West owner Bobby Slattery to get the details on this weekend’s Punch Out: Round 2 event. We also get treated to early info on cans and bottles coming from Fifty West later this year!

So You Wanna Be A Brewer? A Day on the Mobile Canning Line at FigLeaf

I’ve wanted to spend a day at a brewery learning about mobile canning for some time now. But I was lazy and didn’t want to wake up and drive to a brewery to do this. Luckily, FigLeaf is only a few minutes from home and they had Iron Heart Canning (formerly Buckeye Canning) in today to can their Basmati Cream Ale. I reached out to the owners who foolishly allowed me to come help out for the day, here’s my experience.

FigLeaf Basmati Cream Ale

TL;DR, I need a nap.

Quaff Bros: Catching Up, Blue Melvin, and Beyond

Quaff Bros. is a gypsy beer label from Cincinnati, and now across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. It’s been three years since my post helping you know your local brewery. There have been some changes at Quaff Bros that we’re going to get into, but rest assured, the future is bright and blue (melvin)!
