Beer Review: Oskar Blues Old Chub

Continuing the hookup from Oskar Blues I’m trying their Scotch ale, Old Chub, tonight and tomorrow night will bring my review of Dale’s Pale Ale. This is a strong scotch ale, aka a wee heavy, and like all scotch ales feature lots of malt and almost no hops. This is historically due to the fact that hops don’t grow in Scotland and were expensive to import. Enough of that, onto the beer.

New Local Beer Alert: Triple Digit Aftermath Fermented in Rum Barrels

Here’s one from the folks at Triple Digit Brewing Co. to keep an eye out for. You can see my review for the original Aftermath here. You don’t see aging in rum barrels as much as bourbon/whiskey (or even brandy), so this is quite intriguing. You can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be seeing a review from yours truly when this is released. As for details, this has been in rum barrels since July and it is on the time frame most barrel-aged beers are on: it will be ready when it’s ready. Regardless, I’ll get you more updates when there are some to report!

Beer Review: Triple Digit Brewing Co.’s Aftermath

I had been meaning to snag a bottle of Triple Digit Brewing’s (brought to you from the folks from Listermann) since I read it was being distributed to local stores. During a trip to the unfortunately situated (seriously? Where were the traffic planners when this debacle was laid out) Kroger in Hyde Park, I finally saw it on the shelves and picked it up.
